Within the framework of the three priority areas of program focus, the main objectives ofSOHHA operational undertakings include the following:
- Provide humanitarian relief and sustainable development support to communities experiencing natural and/or man-made disasters and adversity in the region;
- Train and equip refugees and internally displaced persons with the basic skills required to anticipate and effectively deal with disaster situations;
- Develop and strengthen indigenous capabilities in early warning detection, disaster preparedness, prevention, relief management and recovery;
- Undertake field research, formulate policy alternatives, and disseminate timely/ relevant information to government and non-governmental policy makers at local and national aimed at the containment and cessation of the scope and scale of conflict and resolution of its underlying causes;
- Create trust building and peaceful co-existence among Somali communities through job creation, intermingling and integration;
