Activity Description
SOHHA conducted one-on-one skilled IYCF counselling sessions delivered by trained Community Health Workers (CHWs). The sessions focused on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, continued breastfeeding, dietary diversity, meal frequency, hygiene, and responsive feeding practices. Individual counselling allowed caregivers to discuss specific feeding challenges and receive tailored guidance.
Monthly Breakdown of Achievements
- September 2025:
A total of 23 caregivers received one-on-one IYCF counselling. Activities focused on fixed sites (Sigalow and Farlibah) and nearby mobile villages, prioritizing caregivers of infants under six months and those newly identified through community screening. - October 2025:
24 caregivers were reached through individualized IYCF counselling sessions conducted across fixed and mobile villages, including Dabeyl, Dharkeynta, and Bacaad Buke. Increased community mobilization and CHW engagement contributed to higher coverage during the month. - November 2025:
31 caregivers received one-on-one IYCF counselling, representing the highest monthly reach. Sessions were conducted across multiple mobile villages such as Kabxanleey, Gasle, Guryacadde, Bacaad, and Qoydo, with strong caregiver participation. - December 2025 (up to 15 December):
13 caregivers were reached through continued one-on-one counselling in Qooqane, Lafoole, and remaining target villages. Activities focused on reinforcing optimal complementary feeding practices ahead of the lean season.
Summary of Results
Across the four reporting months, 91 caregivers of children under two years received one-on-one skilled IYCF counselling for the first time, contributing to improved caregiver knowledge and feeding practices. The activity supported early adoption of appropriate IYCF behaviors and strengthened community-based nutrition prevention efforts in both fixed and mobile villages.
